You’re Allowed to Outgrow Things—Even If They Once Made You Happy

We don’t talk enough about how painful it can be to grow.

Growth isn’t always about climbing up—it’s often about letting go.
Letting go of the job that once excited you.
Letting go of friendships that no longer feel aligned.
Letting go of a version of yourself you once worked hard to become.

You’re allowed to outgrow things—even if they once made you happy.

I used to think that leaving something behind meant I was ungrateful.
But the truth is: some chapters are meant to end, not because they were wrong, but because you’ve changed.

The job that once challenged you may now feel like a cage.
The friend who once understood you may no longer relate to the person you’re becoming.
The dream that lit you up five years ago might not fit the person you are today.

And that’s okay.

Growth means making peace with transitions. It means honoring the joy something gave you—without forcing it to keep doing so forever.

If you’re feeling uncomfortable in a space you once loved, it doesn’t mean you’re lost.
It means you’re evolving.

So give yourself permission to move forward.
You’re not betraying your past—you’re just choosing your future.
