how my students teach me something new every day

People often think teachers are the ones who always give — lessons, advice, direction. But what many don’t see is that, in a classroom, learning flows both ways. Every day, my students remind me that teaching isn’t a one-way street; it’s a shared journey of growth, laughter, and discovery.

Some days, they teach me patience.
Like when someone struggles with the same grammar rule again and again — and then finally gets it. That small sparkle in their eyes when understanding dawns reminds me that real progress takes time. It’s okay to repeat, relearn, restart — as long as we don’t give up.

Other days, they teach me courage.
When a shy student volunteers to speak for the first time in class, or when someone shares their story in hesitant English — those moments make me believe in the quiet power of trying. They show me that bravery doesn’t always roar; sometimes, it whispers.

And most days, they teach me joy.
From their jokes to their endless curiosity, from silly mispronunciations to honest confessions — they fill my classroom with life. Their energy keeps me young at heart and constantly reminds me why I chose this path.

Teaching has never been just about textbooks or tests for me. It’s about connection. It’s about celebrating small wins, embracing mistakes, and growing together — not just as learners of a language, but as humans finding our voices in a big, busy world.

Every class ends with a smile, a thought, or a story that stays with me.
And that’s why, every single day, I walk into my classroom not just as a teacher — but as a student, too.
