The given diagram shows the process of distilling salty water into fresh water. The process is based on principles of evaporation and condensation. it requires materials like gas stove, pot, funnel, pipe, cloth, jug and bucket. The process is clear from the given picture.

To begin with, desalination of water takes place through a number of steps. Firstly, a pot with salt water is placed on a heat source i.e. gas stove. An inverted metallic funnel is placed on the top of the stove, with the other end attached to a pipe. The salty water begins to boil due to the heat, source and steam evaporates from the pot and moves into the funnel. Further, it ascends along the pipe attached to lower end of funnel. As the steam moves inside the pipe, midway the pipe is covered by a piece of cloth with cold water being poured on it by a jug. The steam in this section of pipe condenses to form water droplets and further the droplets move into a bucket through the pipe tied with a rope. In this way, through evaporation and condensation pure  water is obtained from salty water.
